The modest two-room school turned out some notable graduates, she said in an interview, including Warner himself who worked in the Office of the President and retired under President Reagan. Some went on to become doctors, ministers and officers in the military.

The Rev. Anna Allsberry, who gave the invocation - said later that the revival of Scrabble School "just meant everything to me...it was great to see it refinished for a good purpose.”

Rev. Allsberry was one of eleven children, 10 of whom went to Scrabble School. She graduated in 1960.
