The Scrabble School Preservation Foundation eventually raised some $500,000 - including a grant of $200,000 from the National Trust for Historic Preservation - with “donations of all sizes” from community members and local philanthropists, said Amy Silver O’Leary, a grant coordinator who did much of the fund raising for the project.
