And now we have March, the month of contradictions >— first warlike, .as befits its name, then lamblike in behaviour. If we were Texans, today, March 2, we’d be celebrating o w r independence from Mexico. If this were a presidential year, prior to 1933, we’d <be making plans to attend thq inauguration, March 4. If we were Roman, * living in 44 B.C., mans li\ing in the year 44BC, we’d be of a mind to “Beware” on March 15., and taxpaying Aemricans are surely able to syrt-^ pathize with poor old Julius Caesar.
If we were living in Ireland, we’d be “wearing the green’* for St. Patrick on March 17; but, since we live in the good old U.S.A., all we can do to celebrate on that day is plant Irish potatoes.
Whatever the fate March has in store for us, at least it has one advantage over February-— it is one month nearer spring and all the delights implied by that word. Therefore, we like youj, March, even though the poeti Crawford, has described you as: '
“March, the earth-shaker;
March, the sea-lifter;
March, the sky-render.”
