Dr. Obenshain explains that no one experiment can last over six months, because of the brief “half-life”—only 14.3 days—of the radioactive fertilizers. An experiment, atomic scientists compute, can last about 10 times as long as the half-life of the material.

Extension Service agronomists at V.P.I. estimate that a welldeveloped ‘pasture program could add at least $50,000,000 to farm income in Virginia. Present pastures carry an average of one steer to every four or five acres. Proper fertilization, some reseeding and good management can easily double tl|is grazing capacity.
