engineering, Coldiron has been with the State Highway Department since his graduation in 1940,* except for two periods of military service.
He worked in the Culpeper district from July 1940 to August 1941. From 1941 to 1946, he served as a captain of cavalry in the Army, returning to the highway department as soon as his separation from service. He then completed the road agency’s fouryear graduate training program and served as assistant resident engineer' in the Staunton and Fredericksburg districts and as associate maintenance engineer for the entire State before being recalled to the Army in 1951.
Upon his return from service this year, he was made associate secondary roads engineer in Richmond, from winch post he came to the Warrenton residency.
He will be assisted by L. E. Brett, Jr.f who has been assistant resident engineer in the Warrenton residency since April of this year
Brett is a graduate of VPI, with a BS degree in civil engineering. He served from 1943 to 1945 as an aviation cadet in the United States Navy and joined the highway department upon graduation from VPI in 1949. He has also participated in the department's graduate training program which' provides experience in all phases of highway department work.
IN HOSPITAL Gerry Fox, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe, Fox, was taken suddenly ill on Saturday night and rushed to University Hospital, where he was operated on for appendicitis. His parents have been in Charlottesville to l>e with hipi and his recovery is satisfactory.
