Vitamins A and C also are -essential to'the growing teeth. Vitamin A is present in such foods as spinach, turnip greens, carrots, squash, bananas, apricots, butter and eggs. Vitamin C is found in oranges, grapefruit, lemons, cantaloupes, fresh strawberries, raw cabbage, tomatoes, green peppers and salad greens.

Aside from the vitamins and other food factors which fresh fruits and vegetables contain, they appear to perform an important mechanical function as a tooth cleanser. When an apple or a similar fruit is eaten for dessert, sticky foods are cleared away to a great extent, and the mouth and teeth feel clean.
