Over a thousand pamphlets entitled “Good Food for Healthy Teeth” were distributed in Madison County. “It’s Your Health,” a film on nutrition and dental health, was shown at •every school in Madison County and many of the; schools in Warren Co. “ 1 he School That Learned To Eat,” a nutrition film, was also shown in Warren County.
Following the dietary surveys, the study of nutrition was given added emphases in the participating schools. An experiment with rats similar to the one performed in the Rappahannock schools was carried on in each of the schools. More projects are being planned for Madson and Warren counties.
Interest continues to grow in the cafttpagn for better nutrition and dental health as all the organizations in these communities cooperate to make the program a success.
As the dental health and nutrition education^ programs continue in these counties and spread to other communities, they should ‘certainly prove that dental health and general health can be improved by dietary measures.
It is possible that diet plays its greatest role in building good teeth throughout life to keep the bone during the^irst twelve years of life; but a good diet is also needed,structure surrounding the teeth in good condition.
