waxing. If you use a wax that dries to a high shine on linoleum, asphalt or rubber tile, or vinyl floors, you should take off all the old wax at housecleaning time. Wax may accumulate in areas that do not get much traffic. Use a wax remover which loosens and softens the wax coating yet does not damage the flooring or irritate your hands. Between stripping operations, floors should be damp-mopped or washed with a dilute detergent solution to remove surface soil, and waxed as needed. Only when normal cleaning fails to achieve a satisfactory level of cleanliness, or fails to restore the true color of the flooring material, should complete wax removal be comtemplated.

A good way to determine whether a floor is in need of stripping is to perform a test removal operation in a small, inconspicuous area of the room and compare results against the surrounding floor area.r If the surrounding floor is noticeably yellower in appearance, or if the pattern colors are dull by comparison, chances are that a thorough wax stripping is in order.
