H.B. 138 is the contiguous state firearms bill which would allow eligible Virginians to purchase shotguns and rifles in states adjoining Virginia if not prohibited by local law or ordinances and would extend like privileges to residents of contiguous states. If passed this means Virginians can purchase a rifle or shotgun in a state joining Virginia if the other state has a similar law. I have not heard what our neighbors to the we6t and south have done.
B.H. 121 concerning motorboat liability would require all motorboat owners to show proof of financial responsibility before registering motorboats and instruct the Game Commission to revoke numbers of those failing to comply. Also pending is H.B. 168 which would give all law enforcement officers, including Game Wardens, the authority to enforce state anti-litter laws. S.B. 48 and S.B. 49 are contiguous firearms bills similar to H.B. 138. S.B. 56 is a Wetland Protection bill.
Quail season continues in Rappahannock. The squirrel, rabbit, grouse and raccoon season closed here Saturday, January 31, 1970. The grouse season west of the Blue Ridge runs through February.
