as a young man, in his native Norway, Mr. Havstad was sent by the Norwegian Government in the autumn of 1928 as radio engineer and official photographer for the Veslekari (Peoples) Expedition to the North Pole to search for the lost Norwegian Explorer Roald Amundsen. He, with the 7 other scientists received rewards from the French and Norwegian governments.
During his long career as a research scientist Mr. Havstad acquired a great number of patents covering inventions in the field of electronics and communications. He was also the author of a number of technical papers. Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Settle and family and also visited Mrs. J. L. Walter and Mrs. Julia Curtis.
Mrs. Odessa Ficklin left Sunday to spend several days with Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kellum in Baltimore.
