One acre of land planted with one-year old pine seedlings in 1970 will produce merchantable pulpwood-size trees in 16-18 years. The pulpwood on this truck represents approximately two standard cords of pulpwood. In 16-18 years this truck could be loaded 12-14 times from the one acre of land planted in 1970. The Virginia Division of Forestry will assist interested landowners. It has SO million seedlings in its two nurseries. If all of these are planted, approximately 70,000 acres will be planted in Virginia by April IS, 1970.
