Please tell our friend Charlie Smith the latest ridiculous news. Not only have our learned supervisors not acted to censure our friend of many names, they have. voted to give her an increase in salary while refusing to authorize a full time secretary for the Sheriffs Department.
When you have a problem and need to get in touch with the sheriff you may have a long wait, not because the sheriff is not willing .to act —he can only stretch so far.
The news that preventive measures in policing are supposed to be in effect has not reached our courthouse. We are operating under thirty year old directives—and even those straddle the fence, allowing almost any interpretation.
No official any longer has the courage of his convictions; no one says this is it—added on are these and those and them and that and therefore...
