In the interests of international good will, Michael Hesse is spending five weeks in the county with Capt. and Mrs. Howard Holschuh as part of hte Rappahannock Lion’s Gub Youth Exchange program.
“Michael is here to understand how Americans live and work,” said Holschuh.
“And eat,” Michael joked, expressing an interest common to active 17 year-old boys everywhere.
Michael is from Eschwege, West Germany — a far different environment than rural Rappahannock County. Eschwege is a large industrial center that recently celebrated its 1000th anniversary.
‘‘A little before our bicentennial,” commented Capt. Holschuh.
