Local ASCS officials have been advised that allotments on corn, sorghum, barley, and wheat may be removed as a requirement for determining eligibility for disaster payments on the 1977 crops. Tom Eddins, County Executive Director in Rappahannock County, stated “We have been advised to start taking applications from all farmers with planted acreage if they feel they have an abnormally low yield because of the dry weather or any other natural disaster. Their eligibility and subsequent payment will be based on their planted acreage rather than the allotment if the final version of the new farm bill is approved by Congress and signed by the President”
