A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 16, for Sallie Jane Washington, 91, of Viewtown with the Rev. Willie Williams officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery.
Mrs. Washington, widow of Luther James Washington, died Sunday at her residence. She was a native of Culpeper County and the daughter of the late Armstead and Icy Brooks Banks.
She is survived by two daughters, Miss Annie Virginia Washington and Miss Alice Irene Washington, both of Viewtown; four sons, James Robert Washington, Viewtown, Charlie L. Washington and Hugh R. Washington, both of Culpeper, and Lewis Banks Washington of Arlington; ten grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Lawson of Rixeyville; and a brother, Arthur Banks of Culpeper.
