The Sursum Corda School in Washington, beginning its second year of operation with the start of classes on Augut 29, offers an alternative to the traditional approach to education.
"Our philosophy is to have a small school where students can relate to each other and to teachers on a one-to-one basis," said Camille Harris, one of the co-founders of the school. ‘‘We believe in a relaxed approach to learning...It takes place much more easily when it happens in a relaxed atmosphere and through fun activities.”
With the advent of a mandated compentency test as a requisite for graduation, public schools have placed increased emphasis on the mastering of certain basic skills at each grade level. Mrs. Robert Rutherford returned home Friday from Warren Memorial Hospital following surgery on her wrist Wednesday. Mrs. Betty West and sons, Brian and Aaron of Front Royal were Sunday dinner guests of the Rutherfords. Visitors in the Willie B.
