The third annual Wild Turkey Stamp Contest, sponsored by the 35,000 member National Wild Turkey Federation, is now open to all wildlife artists residing in the United States.
According to Federation Executive Vice-President Tom Rodgers, the 1979 design will be the Merriam’s turkey, Meleagris gallopavo merriami.
The Florida, Eastern and Rio Grande wild turkeys have appeared on the 1976, 1977 arid 1978 stamps respectively. Information on purchasing these stamps is available from the Federation.
