Hamfest Set
The annual hamfest sponsored by the Shenandoah Valley Amateur Radio Club will be held Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Clarke County Ruritan Fairgrounds, Berryville, opening at 8 a.m.
Exhibits, handicrafts, games, door prizes and a barbecue chicken dinner are among attractions.
A hamfest banquet will be held Aug. 5 at Duff s Rebel Restaurant. Inquiries should be directed to the club at Box 139, Winchester 22601.

The Virginia Thoroughbred Association will accept entries for its fall Mixed Thoroughbred Sale until August 1.
The sale will be held Oct. 7 at the Foxfield race course on Garth Rd. at Charlottesville. VTA director Michael Hughes expects the new area to attract many new buyers and sellers. The new location has ample stabling with plenty of room to show the horses, and a convenient walking ring near the sales ring. Plenty of parking and easy access should help make the sale a success, Hughes added.
