MS Fund
Drive Nets
Over $1800
At the regular monthly meeting of the Fauquier County Multiple Sclerosis Committee, a full report of past and future fund raising activities was discussed.
The regular annual fund drive, which runs from midMay to mid-June, has netted $1829. This money was donated through door-todoor solicitation and response to the annual letter campaign. In addition, $89 was collected at a car wash at Country Chevrolet conducted by committee staff and friends under Don Harsh and Harry Furr.
Future fund raising events currently planned are swima-thons at the South Wales, Lone Oak and Chestnut Forks swim clubs. Swim club members will participate in marathon lap-swimming with sponsors making donations to MS based on number of laps. Prizes will be awarded. Also planned are a Cut-athon in Warrenton, where interested beauticians and barbers will cut hair and donate proceeds to the MS Committee, and the Second Annual MS Golf Tournament, planned for August 20 at the Fauquier Springs Country Club. According to committee chairman Don Harsh, the 1978 goal of $5000 may still be reached if the summer activities are successful.
