A graveside service for James Edward Yates of Front Royal was conducted Friday at the Flint Hill Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. John R. Frizzell. Mr. Yates died Wednesday, July 19, 1978 at his home.
Born September 12, 1898, in Flint Hill, he was the son of the late Ida Lippett and Edward Moore Yates. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Edith M. Yates of Front Royal; a son, James E. Yates III of Alexandria; one daughter, Edith Yates Moore of Washington, D. C.; a brother, Edward M. Yates of Alexandria; two sisters, Louise P. Durant of Washington, D. C. and Mary J. Moran of Florida; and two grandchildren.
