Contract Let
A $1,837,995 contract has been awarded by the State Highway and Transportation Commission to Whitehurst Paving Co., Inc., Richmond, for resurfacing about 661 miles of highway in the Culpeper District.
About 2.2 million gallons of bituminous material and 76,740 tons of cover stone will be used.
Six resurfacing projects totalling 18.54 miles are planned for Rappahannock County. Projects include:
—Route 622 from Route 628 to Route 625 (2.7 miles)
—Route 622 from Route 211 to Route 614 (2 miles)
—Route 626 from Route 618 to Route 522 (4.5 miles)
—Route 626 from Route 211 to Route 627 (2.99 miles)
—Route 647 from Route 522 to the Fauquier County line (4.15 miles)
—Route 729 from the Culpeper County line (2.2 miles)
The resurfacing is a part of the annual statewide program that includes resurfacing more than 5,300 miles of highway at a cost of almost $15 million.
