iverry i-ee Morgan, Kenneth Lee Armstrong and William Franklin Chandler Jr., were each sentenced to 20 years in the penitentiary on charges of grand larceny by Circuit Court Judge Rayner V. Snead last Monday.
The three pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the Amissville residences of, Brenda and Charles Hilt and« Nancy and Farrell Nicholas last April. Guns and a stereo worth approximately $1,774 were taken from the Nicholas home. No exact figure has been attached to property, including a reloading press for ammunition and two cameras, taken from the Hitts.
According to presentence reports submitted on Monday, 18-year-old Kerry Lee Morgan has a lengthy prior record as a juvenjle, including convictions for petty larceny, vandalism, breaking and entering and grand larceny. Recently convicted of a series of burglaries in Stafford, Morgan is already under sentence of 70 years in prison.
Commonwealth Attorney George Davis asked for the maximum sentence on Morgan, stating that he “operated in a predatory pack preying on the public” with no respect for property or constitutional rights.
Morgan’s attorney Maurice Biddle requested that Judge Snead set any sentence to run concurrently with the time his client already must serve. Noting that Morgan had pleaded guilty and saved the county the expense of a jury trial, Biddle stated that his client had already received the equivalent of a life sentence for statutory

Screening
The Rappahanock Lions Club is sponsoring a preliminary screening for sight and hearing problems including glaucoma. This is open to the public and schools and is free. They also plan to offer blood pressure checks. The sight and hearing van will be at Rappahannock Elementary School from Monday until Thursday, March 19-22 ahd on Friday, March 23 at the local high school. Saturday the unit will be at the parking lot of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington from 10 a.m. until S p.m. After school hours on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 20th and 21st beginning at 3:30 at the elementary school the sight and hearing van will be open to the public.
