Other Maryland land>wners, however, said that adoption there of a state bill, which would forbid nonresident aliens to hold an interest in more than five acres of farmland, as Missouri does, would deny the landowners’ their right to sell to whomever they choose. The Extension Service survey, whatever its worth, showed that Oregon ranked first in acreage sold to foreign interests—129,700; Texas was next, 93,200; Virginia, 17th, with 17,000 (or 15,350) acres.
In Fauquier County, the probable total for the reporting period (although it wasn’t listed in the district tabulation) was 1374 acres of the county's 236,569 acres in farmland (1974 ag cenus).

The Extension Staff and the 4-H’ers of Rappahannock would like to take this opportunity to express appreciation to all who placed orders for dogwoods and redbuds through their 1979 Tree Sale Program. Over one hundred property owners ordered 660 trees.
