issue, the board unanimously approved a maintenance contract with Honeywell, Inc. in McLean for the heating system at the elementary school. The same company is currently handling the high school’s heating system under a maintenance contract for quarterly payments of $250. Including the elementary school will bring the cost to $872 per quarter.
“Once the system is updated (including an air dryer hooked into pneumatic controls and calibration or replacement of thermostats), the payment will take care of all emergency calls and replacements to keep the system in top flight condition, said Bloomer.
He reported that Honeywell representatives had estimated heating cost savings of 20 to 30 percent with the contract. “I think it will pay for itself in terms of energy that can be saved through efficient operation of the buildings,” said the superintendent.
Both Schools Accredited
In an update on accreditation standings, Bloomer reported that the elementary school had been fully accredited and the high school accredited and advised with three deficiencies for the current year.
According to Bloomer, the three deficiencies at RCHS were charged for (1) three teachers instructing outside i of their area of endorsement (2) two teachers instructing more than one class in the same period and (3) lack of sufficient storage space.
Bloomer noted that the two ! teachers with more than one class were Don Bomberger who instructs Art I and II with 20 students and Carol Goff who instructs office practice and shorthand with 13 students.
Of the three teachers teaching outside their area of endorsement, one has completed the required course work but did not record the classes properly. The second will not be returning to teach at RCHS next year and the third has a master’s degree but must teach a specified number of
