A pair of Rappahannock County students have been awarded secondary-education diplomas as members of the Gass of 1979 at RandolphMacon Academy in Front Royla. g
They are Bryan Herschell Blevins, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herschell Blevins, Jr., of Amissville, and Fletcher KingEast ham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Eastham of Ben Venue.
Both students received Cadet Officer Commissions awarded during final Group Parade ceremonies conducted in accordance with the Air Force Junior ROTC program at R-MA.
Blevins, who served as vicepresident of the senior class, also received a Superior Performance Award presented during the Commencement Weekend’s Class Night exercises.
A four-year student at the Academy, he was a letterman co-captain of the varsity football and soccer teams and a letterman with the varsity baseball team.
He was also active as a member of the prize-winning precision drill team and the Religious Activities Committee. He served as vicepresident of the Student Council and was a member of the Society of Distinguished American High School Students.
Eastham attended Randolph-Macon for six years, during which time he earned varsity athletic monograms with the football and track teams. A first lieutenant in the Air Force Junior ROTC program, he served as “BFlight” Commander of the Second Squadron.
