Through planning and cooperation, mileage and gas consumption can be reduced substantially, leaving enough fuel to go around at Rappahannock gas pumps.
It would be shameful to see a repeat performance here of the scenes that took place in Fauquier County over the weekend. In Warrenton, police were called in to break up lines and protect gas station operators who had to close when fuel ran out. Irate motorists trapped one owner in his station office and banged on the windows until he phoned the police for help.
Rappahannock people pride themselves on the peace and tranquility to be found in their county. With effort, we can keep it peaceful—even in the face of “no gas” signs. By learning to get by with a little less, well have enough for all.
