The Rev. Joseph T. Carson, Jr., will move to Charlottesville this week to begin his appointment as Charlottesville District Superintendent of The United Methodist Church.
His appointment, announced earlier this spring by Bishop W. Kenneth Goodson, became official during the concluding sessions of the Virginia Annual Conference last week in Roanoke.
Carson succeeds the Rev. William A. Wright, Jr., who was appointed executive secretary of the Board of Pensions and associate director of Ministerial Services in the Conference Council on Ministries. Wright, whose office and residence will be in Richmond, had held the superintendent’s appointment for four years. „
The Charlottesville District, which extends from Culpeper to Monroe and from Mineral to the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, contains 100 churches and 46 appointments.
