To the editor:
I am writing in reference to the letter in last weeks paper from Mr. Eastham. I too urge everyone to register to vote on the school board referendum, but unlike Mr. Eastham, I will vote YES1
Mr. Eastham stood at a public meeting and said, “I don’t have to answer to anyone.” If the referendum passes, then the school board members will have to answer to the supervisors, who in turn have to answer to the people. This is what Mr. Eastham fears. If it takes politics to see that our tax dollars are spent properly, then I’m all for it.
I am almost ashamed to say that I live in Wakefield District due to the remarks and attitude of our school board member. He has insulted the teachers and frankly has the entire school system in an uproar. I know of at least one teacher that has decided not to return next year due strictly to his snide remarks.
