Statistics can be twisted. The Rappahannock School Board’s space analysis committee of Robert Eastham and Allen Stokes with assistance from Walter Masterson gave a classic example of how to misuse figures to prove a point at last Wednesday’s meeting.
According to a committee report presented at that time, the county high school has 43 per cent excess space, based on minimum per pupil guidelines from the state.
That may come as something of a surprise to students, teachers, parents, administrators and friends familiar with RCHS. If there’s extra space in that building, someone’s done a superb job of keeping the room hidden. It must rank as the county’s best kept secret.
