Yes, Mr. Eastham, I am employed by the school. I am a bus driver, though I’m sure you will do your best to ridicule me and remedy that. But if 1 were buying groceries with your tax dollar on my salary, my family would have starved long ago. Being employed by the school system I have had the opportunity to see a great deal that I was unaware of. I am concerned not only for my own children, but for the children I see everyday of the week. I plead with the board to talk to the people in the schools. Talk to the teachers, the principals, the bus drivers, the superintendent and assistant superintendent. Lot’s of them pay taxes, too. You hired them, so at least have the trust to believe what they tell you.
There are some school board members that show a genuine concern for our educational system. Mr. Eastham’s letter shows that his first concern is his wallet, and I know there are those who agree. But if people would stop and ask, "What is more imporjant? The education of our children or that one almighty tax dollar.” If you choose the latter, then I suggest you take a closer look at your sense of values.
