Yielding to public opinion expressed at a community meeting in August, the U. S. Postal Service has negotiated a contract with Mrs. Ruth Orange which ups the hours for the Woodville post office from three and a half to four and a half per day. six days per week.
According to William Hunt from the post office’s management sectional center in Charlottesville, needs of the Woodville office will be reevaluated at the first of the year. He emphasized that the proposed study will definitely not result in fewer hours.
"After the reaction of the people at that meeting, there’s no way we're going to cut Woodville’s hours any further.” Hunt said, adding that the evaluation may justify expanding hours for the contract unit.
Hunt noted that Woodville once had a regular post office which was closed years ago with no objections from the community, and replaced with the contract unit now operated by Mrs. Orange.
