Parents, teachers and society promote the concepts of good discipline as they related to private property (stealing, breaking windows), public property (writing on school desks, littering the highway), respect for people who are different (the old. the handicapped), and respect for one's self (truthfulness, sexual behavior).
All of this—from good manners to good driving habits, from respecting adults to avoiding drugs—is discipline. And it all helps students mature, to develop their own rules for life, to establish self-discipline. With good role models, this selfdiscipline will help the child become a more successful adult.
