At two o’clock that day on Route 522 north of Massies Comer. Mary Ellen Mears of Catonsville. Md. operating a 1980 Volkswagen truck stopped to make a left turn into Less's apple house. She was struck in the rear by a ’75 Plymouth driven by Katherine Johnston of Pittsburgh. Pa.

According to Moore, Ms. Johnston was cited for reckless driving, and he said Ms. Mears sustained minor injuries.

Three vehicles, one parked on the roadside, were involved in a collision Tuesday morning at the intersection of Routes 522 and 641, the road into the Aileen plant south of Flint Hill.

Mary Ann Tharp of Castleton in a ’64 Chevrolet was stopped to make a turn into 641 when she was hit from behind by a GMC truck belonging to Monticello Dairy and operated by Barry Clem of Culpeper. Clem came over a hill, attempted to avoid Tharp and struck a 1978 Ford pickup owned by Bradley Dodson of Flint Hill which was parked, according to Trooper Moore.

Clem was charged with reckless driving and damage to the dairy truck was minimal. Damage was set at $450 to the Dodson vehicle and at $300 to Tharpe.
