Sherry Hamill, the chief riding instructor at Birchgate Farm in Amissville, traveled to the Potomac Polo Gub on Sunday to join the Virginian team as they fought for the First Annual Honey Bee Cup sponsored by the Electric Equipment Corporation of Virginia. Virginia lost to Potomac 6-3 in a slow but cleanly contested game.
The violet visitors were at a serious disadvantage—they didn’t know each other, had not been playing regularly and were all on borrowed horses which they did not have time to warm up. It took until the second half of the four-chukker match for the purple to get it together more to their own score, leaving them down 6-3.
