Rap Owings, she was instrumental in securing the donation of land for the recreation center across the highway from Washington. A tireless fund raiser, she was also responsible for the donation of substantial sums to the drive for money to build a 4-H center near Front Royal.
But in addition to these tangibles she leaves behind a legacy of friendship and good will to mark the years she spent at the little red extension office. Secretary to' three of the county’s five extension agents, she worked with all seven of Rappahannock’s assistant agents and all but one of the 19 home agents who have been assigned here.
