Tandem
Wakefield School’s varsity soccer team defeated a team from the Tandem School in Charlottesville at Wakefield's season - opener played Friday in Huntly. The final score was 7-1.
Tandem scored the first goal of the match early in the first period, but was unable to maintain its lead. Wakefield controlled the ball during most of the game and overcame a fullback press during the second half to score five of their seven goals.
Particularly outstanding was the performance by rookie goalie Chris Reed, one of Wakefield’s new boarding students.
Coach Peter Quinn said he looks forward to the most successful season in the school’s history.
Bridge Party
Mrs. Thomas Massie entertained the Flint Hill bridge club and their guests Monday evening at her home in Washington.
Prizes were won by Mrs. Emory Russell, Mrs. Steve Ellis. Mrs. L. B. Burford, Mrs. Rapley Owings. Mrs. Jack Curtis and Mrs. Louis Moore Jr.
