For 1979-80, the pupilteacher ratio for grades kindergarten through seven was 16.3 in Rappahannock, the state average exactly. Pupil-teacher ratios for the other counties in planning district nine were 15.9 in Culpeper, 15.5 in Fauquier, 15.1 in Madison, and 15.0 in Orange.

Per Cent Graduating . Only on percentage of ninth grade class graduating four years later in 1980 did Rappahannock pull ahead of neighboring counties and the state average. According to Facing Up, 72.9 per cent of the ninth grade class in 197677 graduated in 1980. This compares favorably with Orange’s 67.7 per cent, Madison’s 68.3 per cent, Fauquier’s 68.4 per cent and Culpeper’s 67.7 per cent. Statewide, the percentage of 1976’s ninth grade class graduating in 1980 totaled 72 per cent.
Over the past three years, the statewide percentage of ninth graders graduating four years later has declined from 73.1 per cent in 1977-78 to 72.4 per cent in 1978-79 to last year’s 72 per cent.
In a reverse trend, the percentage of ninth graders graduating four years later in Rappahannock County has climbed steadily from 59.6 per cent in 1977-78 to 67 per cent in 1978-79 to last year’s 72.9 per cent.
