Winner Of

ODH Cup

Randolph-Macon student Roger Smithwick at 18 is the youngest rider to win the Old Dominion Hunt Cup. Roger rode Just A Tinch to a 2‘/j length win in the horse’s first Virginia start over timber before 3,000 race enthusiasts attending the annual Old Dominion Hunt Point-ToPoint Races held April 11 at Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eastham’s Ben Venue Farm.

Roger, son of D. M. Smithwick, who lives in Middleburg and attends Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, piloted his Just A Tinch in the second fastest time in the history of the cup run over the excellent Ben Venue course.
