for Thursday, April 20, 1950 was the announcement that the school board agreed to a new salary scale for teachers: ‘"The new salary schedule places certificates and years of experience (up to six years) at S1800 and *2000.”
According to the county census report of Saturday April 21, about 3584 people had been counted so far. Estimates were that this was about onehalf of the county population, and it included 981 dwellings and 392 farms.
So popular was the Rappahannock News in 1950 that a truck driver of Middletown turned in a false report of robbery in order that he might get his name in the paper.
