"The idea of conducting Backyard Bible Clubs isn't new,” said the pastor. “They have been a great way to reach out to young people with the Gospel for a long time. They are a lot like the vacation Bible schools which many churches offer here at home, but the setting is more informal, more relaxed.”
Each of the Mt. Lebanon youth had prepared for the trip by taking part in the vacation Bible school program conducted in their church the month before. The older ones taught classes themselves while the younger ones assisted adults in other classes, noted Betty Sims, VBS director.
