American towns named Washington, was a guest of the National Capital Sesquicentennial Commission in Washington, D.C. The six mayors are heads of towns ranging in size from 507 to 5880.
Mrs. Ashby Jenkins recovered at her home at Nethers Mill, after being bitten on the ankle by a copperhead which she stepped on while working in her garden.

SERRYVILLE'S Firemen's
Carnival was well
attended and enjoyed by record crowds. The total gross receipts amounted to over $10,000, the best since its beginning several years before. Miss Geraldine Baldwin was given the title of Carnival Queen and Stevie Aylor was runner-up. Amissville Methodist Church made plans for a new educational building which would contairt six large classrooms and a full basement that could be used as two more classrooms and a fellowship hall. The County Supervisors, aided by civic organizations, endeavored to solve the problem of public sanitary landfills, or dumps, for Rappahannock County residents. However, the lack of dumps did not necessitate the dumping of trash which could be burned more easily than it could be hauled to the roadside and scattered.
