A Waynesboro man has received a sentence of 90 days in jail, three-years probation and a $500 tine, according to Shenandoah National Park Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen.
Neil G. Wood, 28, was arrested by Park rangers and a State game warden on November 7. 1981, in the Sawmill Run section of the Park, while attempting to shoot a bear confined in a homemade trap. In addition to the hunting charge, Mr. Wood was also charged with trapping and possession of a weapon in the Park. Mr. Wood was tried on July 22 before U. S. Magistrate Glen E. Conrad in U.S. District Court.
