during this year. My year was out on the 9th of May. 1859. We then started to look for a home somewhere. On that same day 1 rented a house and got a housekeeper for the next year, and hired to Mr. Washington Burke for $45. We did not go to housekeeping until the first of November; 1 felt somewhat relieved to, think that I was in a house of my own.
The next April the war broke out which made things gloomy to my mind. I worked that year pretty much by the dav.
