The three most serious conditions hot weather can trigger are heat stroke, heat syncope and heat exhaustion.

Heat stroke, a failure of all body cooling mechanisms, is a medical emergency that demands immediate attention and treatment by a doctor. Symptoms include faintness; dizziness; staggering; headache; nausea; loss of consciousness; high body temperature (104 degrees Fahrenhei t-40 degrees Centigrade or higher); strong, rapid pulse; and flushed skin. In severe cases, blood pressure drops as circulation tails.
