In Circuit Court last week Judge Raynor Snead placed Loudoun County Sheriff Donald L. Lacy on probation for one year as long as he does not violate any laws during this period.
Lacy was brought to the Rappahannock County Circuit Court for an appeal, but after the entourage had arrived, Lacy waived the opportunity to appeal. The reason for the trial being held in Rappahannock Circuit Court was due to a change of venue, which was requested by the Defense Attorney. The change of venue was asked because it was felt that the Sheriff could not get a fair trial w ith an impartial jury in Loudoun.
Originally Lacy was convicted in Loudoun General District Court by Judge John Alexander, of Fauquier. Lacy was found guilty of simple assault and was fined SI00 plus court costs while the charges of cursing and abusing were dismissed. The case stemmed from a New Years incident that occurred at the Holiday Inn on Route 28, near Sterling. Lacy was attending a party
