Route 123 Hit And Run The episode began, explains Prince William Police Captain J. A. Sindlinger, when a call came through about a hit and run incident on Route 123 in Fairfax. The caller, thinking it occurred in Prince William, telephoned the Prince • William dispatcher by mistake. Not long after that, he says, another call came in from Woodbridge Airport. The vehicle descriptions were the same, and Officer R. D. Williams responded. A rolling roadblock was set up along Davis Ford Road, Capt. Sindlinger says, and eventually the vehicle (belonging to Liles' girlfriend) was brought to a stop. Officer Williams approached the Bronco on foot and reached inside to take the keys.
Just then, Liles allegedly floored the accelerator, knocking the policeman to the ground, says the captain. The officer broke a rib and lay on the ground as Liles rammed Williams’ cruiser sending it across Davis Ford Road.
The police cruiser hit an oncoming passenger car, but the driver was not injured. That person had time to jump from the car before impact. Captain Sindlinger says.
From Davis Ford Road, the Bronco travellled along Route 234 to 1-66 where another Prince William County officer attempted to stop it. Liles allegedly rammed that cruiser three limes, causing it to go into a spin and leave the road.
Not A High Speed Chase
"You’ve got to keep in mind this is not a high speed chase.” Sgt. Millner savs.
