Richard S. (Dick) Catron. 50. of Luray died Thursday. November 18. 1982. at Page Memorial Hospital.
A member and former chairman of the Page County Board of Supervisors, Mr. Catron was a vocational agriculture teacher at Lurav High School for 28 years. He was born March b. 1932, in Rural Retreat and was a son of the late James Franklin and Josephine Etta Leonard Catron.
Mr. Catron received bachelor's and master of education degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He served in the U. S. Air Force two years, attaining the rank of captain. He was also owner-operator of the Beef Baron Restaurant west of Luray.
Mr. Catron was elected to the Page County Board of Supervisors from Election District 1 in 1975 and reelected in 1979. He was the unsuccessful Democratic candidate in 1981 from the 18th District which included Rappahannock County. He was a member of the Luray United Methodist Church and various educational and agricultural organizations. Mr. Catron was a private pilot.
On June 2. 1954, he married the former Josephine Wilkins of Edinburg, a Luray High School home economics teacher, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Leonard Cooper Catron of Luray and Paul Allen Catron of Woodford; a daughter, Yvonne Moyer of Luray; two brothers, Otis Catron of Atkins, S. C. and Kermit Catron of Alexandria; six sisters, Mildred Bunting and Nancy Schmidth. both of Orlando, Fla., Helen McCall of Las Vegas. Mirian Madden of Buffalo, N. Y., Elenor Goodman of Marion and Alice McNutt of Columbia, S. C, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray by the Rev. H. Eugene Baker. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Luray.
