Crashing twice into Clarke County Sheriff Deputy Anthony Roper’s cruiser and smashing the left front end of Trooper Hodges' car, the moving mayhem left the Route 522-Route 50 intersection, headed east on Route 50 and onto Route 17 south.
Trooper Hodges, then joined by Trooper W. E. Walther, formed a moving roadblock, a roadblock “that almost worked,” says Sgt. Millner. But the Bronco smashed through, totalling ^ Trooper Hodges’ vehicle and causing 5400-worth of damage to Trooper Walther’s. The last leg of this 75-mile moving violation involved a plan to set up a stationary roadblock upon return to I66.
