Just why Liles went on his one-man rampage is a mystery, says Capt. Sindlinger.
"We have no idea," he says, Liles' girlfriend confirmed he had not been drinking, but she did indicate he "acted crazy” that morning, says the captain.
Liles will remain in Fauquier County Jail until Warrenton lawyer Carroll Martin, his court-appointed counsel, can arrange a bond hearing.
Although Clarke County has not issued any warrants yet, Liles was charged with two counts of assault, reckless driving and obstruction of justice (when he resisted arrest) in Warren County.
In Fauquier he is charged with one personal injury hit and run felony, four counts of hit and run misdemeanor, driving on a revoked driver's, license and reckless driving.
Prince William County authorities, says Captain Sindlinger, charged him with felonious assault, attempted felonious assault, and two counts of reckless driving. “Throughout this episode, as far as driving maneuvers and attempts to stop this individual are concerned, (officers) conducted themselves very well. Everybody used the minimum amount of force necessary," Sgt. Millner says.
