On Gay Street, you will encounter the Rush River Company, a craftsmen’s gallery. Rush River is a cooperative which features the designs and work of more than a dozen artists. Plan to go to their annual Christmas tea this Sunday from 12 Noon to 5. On hand then will be James J. Kilpatrick to sign copies of his new book, American South, Towns and Cities and quitter Jinny Beyer with her new book. The Medallion Quilts. Beginning December 5, a show entitled “Joy is Craftsmanship” will feature a work from each of the Rush River members which they have created especially to express the joy of the holiday season.
Rush River also carries some small items that would be perfect for Christmas giving: little cups by potters Chuck Brome and June Jordan, quilt prints designed by Jinny Beyer, little painted wooden boxes by Country Fare.
